Jim and Bobbi Jean We are passionate about the American West. The truth and the myth. We are Purveyors of Fine Western Goods. We scout for unique and distinctive apparel, accessories, home décor, and general merchandise that are a reflection of Western lifestyle. We hunt for artisans and craftsmen who are inspired, to create “decorative art you can wear” based on their own love for the story of the West. We round it up and bring it to you.
As husband and wife, we have more than 50 years of retail experience in apparel, accessories, home décor, and jewelry. For several years Bobbi Jean was on staff at the Autry National Center of the American West working directly with visitors and curatorial staff. Most recently, she was involved in the operation of the Museum Store. She never stopped learning and appreciating the history and culture of the American West. The Autry National Center's collections are world class and the exhibits spellbinding. In the store she encouraged visitors to try on, touch, and feel items that were similar to the ones on display. Feel the warmth of a capote (blanket coat) or weight of a mountain man buckskin shirt, try on an exquisite Bohlin or Silver King buckle, don a handsomely embroidered shirt like Gene or Roy wore, sweep on a fringed fancy dance shawl or slip on a fabulous turquoise necklace similar to the ones in the museum's Native American collection and be transported to another time and place. Our love for Western music runs deep. You'll find a terrific assortment of Western music CDs for we believe in nurturing new Western Music talent as well as providing continued exposure for established performers. We are the "official sponsor and outfitters" of The Tumbling Tumbleweeds, winners of the 2008 Academy of Western Artists Western Music Duo/ Group of the Year and the Western Music Association's 2008 Crescendo Award honoring new talent. Pick up their first CD, The Tumbling Tumbleweeds, to enjoy this terrific, exciting Western group! You may have met us "on the road" as we take our store and set up at major Western events like the recent Buckaroo Book Shop at the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival and the Topanga Fiddle BanjoContest and Folk Festival. For a list of upcoming appearances, interviews, and special events visit the OutWest Events page. Hart Ranch and Museum, The Autry National Center, The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Arts, The Los Angeles Natural History Museum, The National Corvette Museum, The Western Music Association (WMA), and SASS (Single Action Shooting Society).
