From our Purveyor of Music:
This is a musical group going places and you'll want to be along for the ride! They were honored with 2 major Western Music Awards. 2008 Western Music Association Crescendo Award for Most Promising Talent and 2008 Academy of Western Artists Western Music Duo/Group of the Year Award!
What fun! You can't listen to these songs without smiling, toe tappin', an singin' along. In the liner notes you'll read about each song, its history or why the group chose to record it. My personal favorite is "Little Patch of Heaven" from a recent Disney film, Home on the Range. Although written in 2004, "we felt it captured that great Western swing feel of the 40s we love so much!" Living not far from the Big Bear Valley, I particularly enjoy their original "Golden Grizzly" about the history of goldminer William Holcomb and his encounter with a grizzly in the area now known as Big Bear.
Meet "Tumbleweed Rob" Wolfskill, Chris Acuff, "Baby Face" R.J. Mills and "Big Cade" Parenti of The Tumbling Tumbleweeds. They are joined by Jean Sudbury on fiddle and mandolin, Dan Dungan on bass, and Michael Bigam on trumpet.
{>} Meet The Tumbling Tumbleweeds up close and personal.
From the liner notes:
Like Bob Nolan, we are not working cowboys ourselves. We do however aspire to honor the legacy of the American West and of the Sons of the Pioneers with our own contribution to the world of Western music. It is our sincere desire to keep Western music in the heart and soul of the American consciousness and to remind Americans everywhere that the West and the American Cowboy are a part of our collective heritage to share, to celebrate and to preserve. We hope you will join us in this celebration!
