A CHBK Biskit Hatch: Biskit Goes To School
#6119 A CHBK Biskit Hatch: Biskit Goes To School

Biskit Goes To School
Author "Biskit" Wade Hatch
Illustrations by Michael Powell

"This is Biskit. He is a Mountain Man. Ms. Sauls asks the class to welcome him."

So begins this fun, engaging, and educational little book about Biskit, the Mountain Man. He spends time in a modern classroom, sharing with the students the ways, tools, and customs of frontier mountain men. Written by Santa Clarita Valley artist and motivational trainer, "Biskit" Wade Hatch and illustrated by fine art artist and teacher, Michael Powell.

The first in a series about Biskit's adventures, it comes with some fun "extras." Each book is accompanied with 3 "touch and feel" items and information sheet. These include a piece of beaver fur, swatch of wool, and a small "personal" beaded suede bag. Teachers, home school educators, Scouts, and young Mountain Men enthusiasts will enjoy the book and "hands on" components.

One inset photo is of the three "hands on" pieces and the other is a watercolor of the author, Biskit, by local artist Cecily Willis.

About the Author
Wade "Biskit" Hatch was born and raised in rural Utah. Biskit's roots in the land and nature are deep within him. He loves nature and living close to the land, even though he lives far from the rural life at this time.

He is the father of seven children and a former elementary school teacher. He has a great passion for the 1800's time period. He is both an accomplished leather craftsman and story teller.

About the Artist
Michael Powell's interest in art started when he was about 7 or 8 years old. While sitting at the dinner table he watched his Dad draw a horse. He was so amazed that he tried to draw that horse everyday. All through Elementary and High School he was involved in art programs. Basically self taught, he went to college as an Art and Music major. Currently he teaches at the ARTISTS TOUCH fine art studio and enjoys watching students explore their artistic side.
