The above image is titled "Night Along the Trail". The original oil painting was completed by Al in 1967.

Al Shelton loves western lore and most everything that is related to the days that he spent on the ranch. In fact, Al was a cowboy & horse breaker in Colorado and the surrounding states in the 1930's & 1940's. Al has a special gift with horses and was able to tame them for domestic use with good success. However, more than one spirited horse crossed Al's path during that time and he has many fond memories of these experiences.

This above fine art Giclee print depicts a dark evening scene out on the prairie with a young couple in a covered wagon. The couple is on their way West and must lay over for the season due to a shortage of horses. You see, as Al says, "two horses are not enough to make the trip out west in those days. You needed four horses to make the trip or you will just wear them out".
