From our Purveyor of Books:
Several years ago we traveled through Oklahoma and spent some time at the Will Rogers Memorial. If you haven't been it is a "must see." We've been to his home out our way here in the Los Angeles area too. I didn't know much about him but the more I read, and the older I get, the more I enjoy his writings. This little book is packed with favorites quotes culled from over 2,000 offered for review by the staff of the Will Rogers Memorial.
As I write this our nation has just selected a new President-Elect, after a particularly bitter contest. We are uneasy, uncertain of the future, restless, and anxious. Our neighbors, colleagues, and coworkers are getting pink slips. Our cherished cultural institutions, opera and theater companies, and symphonies are closing their doors. Yet, our nation has been through this before and we have weathered these storms. Will Rogers' writings are as relevant today as they were 70 years ago.
When we laugh the clouds of fear, anxiety, and despair are relieved. Keep this book within reach, when you have an anxious moment let it fall open and you will find something to make you laugh. The clouds are lifted, if only for a moment.
