Eddy Arnold appeared in two Columbia Westerns,
Feudin' Rhythm (1949) and
Hoedown (1950). Neither of these films did much for Columbia. However, he had a successful solo recording career, and according to Douglas Green's book
Singing in the Saddle, Arnold considered Gene Autry his musical hero and inspiration. The song he is most identified with is "The Cattle Call," and it was a #1 record in 1955.
The title track on this CD, Arnold sings many Western standards written by the best - Bob Nolan, Cindy Walker, and others. Enjoy his rendition of traditional tunes like "The Streets of Laredo," and favorites like "Cool Water."
