Here's what Joe Herrington says about Poetry: The old cowboys were natural storytellers and told stories about the cattle, the horses, the people and the land. They were simple stories good for a tellin' or two but they soon realized that if they put those stories to rhyme and rhythm, the other cowboys would listen to those same stories over and over again. Cowboy Poetry was born...a common man's poetry. Sometimes it was humorous, sometimes it was serious or sentimental, but it was and still is a unique form of American literature.
He dedicates these poems to "the cowboys who rode for the brand and showed us what that meant." Meet Joe Herrington.
