I recently had the opportunity to enjoy an evening of entertaining, engaging, and lively music by Rodger and his band the Cowboy Balladeers. I particularly enjoyed the stories behind the songs. They performed cherished favorites and then many written today inspired by the past.

All the songs on this CD are written by {>} Rodger Maxwell. This is his third album and its a winner. My favorites are "The Promise," "Darling' I Won't Be Comin' Home," and "Hombres of Summer." Inspired by the real West, his songs like "Tess" are based on actual accounts...this is the ballad of a Tombstone cowgirl scorned by her man..."bam, bam, bam"...you can guess the rest!
