A veteran of the Miller Brothers 101 Ranch Wild West Show, bronc buster Charles Gebhert was rechristened Buck Jones when introduced to film audiences. Eventually settling in Los Angeles, Buck found work in movies as bit stuntman and occassional double for his rival and friend, Tom Mix. After his first starring role in The Last Straw, a 1920 Fox Studio film, his career skyrocketed. In 1942 his life came to a tragic end when he perished in a fire at a party being held in his honor in Boston. He died heroically while attempting to save other party goers.
