Judy Coder

{>}Click here for the live link to www.SCVTV.com edited concert!

We kicked off the July 4th weekend with an evening of Western music from the heartland! Kansas native songcatcher, JUDY CODER, performed live at OutWest. Classically trained, Judy Coder presented a thoroughly enjoyable evening of great songs and stories, unsurpassed yodeling, and toe tappin' favorites. Our recommendation is: pour a glass of ice cold lemonade (or make a Black Cow), enjoy tasty potato salad or cprn-on-the-cob, and a slice o apple pie - it doesn't get more "American heatland" than this!

JUNE
Scott Gates and the Salty Suites
Filmed Saturday, June 25

{>}The Wimberley Bluegrass Band kicked off the evening! Click here for the concert!

From our Purveyor of Music:
Mandolin phenom Scott Gates performed at OutWest last spring with Nathan McEuen. These two passionate performers dazzled our audience, their fingers moving so fast and furiously on mandolin and guitar that the air absolutely crackled. Wow. We had a packed house and we were so entertained that we didn't mind rubbing shoulders with our neighbor -literally! It was a dynamic, memorable evening.

This year, we weren't disappointed! The engaging and dynamic The Wimberley Bluegrass Band started off the evening. The band consists of 4 siblings ranging in age from 12-18. They performed original and traditional bluegrass. Then, Scott Gates and the Salty Suites took center stage and performed for our intimate group as though we were a crowd of thousands. What a night!

Scott Gates and the Salty Suites is an acoustic roots bluegrass band performing originals and standards. The Salty Suites includes Scott Gates, Chuck Hailes and Chelsea Williams and are all of like minds. They live in the world of live acoustic music, sharing a passion for roots and bluegrass, as well as traditional mountain music.

Scott Gates is as close to a musical prodigy on the mandolin as you will ever meet and now plays guitar with the same fire and brilliance. Scott has been a mainstay at festivals for many years having performed with artists as varied as John McEuen, Nathan McEuen, Steve Martin, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Kenny Logins and more.

Chuck Hailes, is one of the top bass players in the country, schooled in classical and jazz bass playing and techniques. With his background in bluegrass music, and degree in the Upright Bass, Chuck sings and plays in a way that is uniquely his own.

Chelsea Williams has been writing and performing her own music since she was 13
years old. By the age of 17 she penned nearly 100 original songs. Chelsea currently makes her living by playing on the street for tips and selling a home-made demo, having sold thousands in recent months, one-by-one, simply on her own on the street. Her magnetic presence draws them in and her songs set the hook.

Ann-Marita
Filmed Saturday, June 18
{>}Click this link for this entertaining concert! Ann-Marita, Norwegian born California based singer/songwriter, entertained us with original music and great storytelling. She performed her solo work from her 2 CD's and premiered new songs from her upcoming 3rd record! She was joined by Gary McGrath on guitar and Ryan Roberts on bass. SCVTV was here to capture it for you.

{>}Katy Moffatt with Andrew Hardin and Fats Caplan, click here to see this concert filmed by SCVTV!

For over three decades, {>}Katy Moffatt has delivered powerful, adventurous tunes, influenced by the various music of the western states. Her albums on Rounder, Philo, Shanachie and others show amazing style and content, and include songwriting with Wendy Waldman, Tom Russell and others. It's her live shows that are truly special. With just Katy and a guitar, the stage is filled with a fiery blaze of music. Whether singing her own tunes, or traditional music, or covers from an amazing range of songwriters, she's worth hearing.

Recently, she recorded {>}Fewer Things, her 3rd acoustic collaboration with guitarist/producer Andrew Hardin. Guitar Player Magazine writes: "With elements of Mark Knopfler, Clarence White, and Chet Atkins evident in his playing, (Hardin's) melodic acoustic soloing is electrifyingly high on emotion."

{>}Listen online for a Podcast of a radio interview recorded liveon Saturday, April 16 with Katy Moffatt. She'llwas our guest on Around the Barn with Heads-Up.
