About Us

Imaged Leather™ was formed in 2009 with the vision of transforming the way people customize and personalize leather apparel. Our goal is to change the current paradigm of mass customization of leather apparel to customization and personalization of leather apparel for the masses.

Leather beautification has been mired for centuries with traditional beautification methods such as dyeing, screen printing and embroidering. These technologies limit customization and personalization for reasons such as limited color space, image quality and the cost of producing one offs versus tens or hundreds of items. Recent advancements in digital technologies have brought about newer solutions such as dry toner (laser) and direct to leather UV printing which show promise but unfortunately can be limited by size, application and again the cost of producing one offs versus tens or hundreds of items. Most importantly all of the above technologies fail to provide a process that marries the properties of the leather with the custom image. Traditional customization processes are NOT subservient to the leather and therefore are NOT indistinguishable from the leather.

Imaged Leather , utilizing a patented shape memory polymer and ink jet imaging is capable for the first time to provide a durable, high quality, custom digital image for the personalization of leather apparel that is INDISTINGUISHABLE from the leather. This revolutionary process allows:

  Product Information

  Do I have to do anything special to clean or maintain the imaged area of my leather apparel?
  • No, treat the imaged area as you would the non-imaged leather.
  • With any leather product there are some things to AVOID!!
    • Some chemical groups can melt into the finish system and/or cause damage leading to tacky feeling leather and / or color transfer:
    • Heavy solvents or petroleum based solvents such as acetone, methyl ethyl keytone (MEK), mineral spirits, lacquer thinner and isopropyl alcohol.
    • High alkaline cleaners (pH of 10.5 or more) or acid based products (pH of 5 or less) such as most heavy-duty degreasers, products containing bleach, ammoniated cleaners, d'limonene based products, bathroom cleaners containing acids, terpines, de-icing fluids or most parts washer fluids.
    • Dry Cleaning and steam cleaning can do the following to your finish system: Premature cracking, change the "hand" or feel of your leather, discoloration.
    • "Oil" type soaps that can leave behind tacky residue causing increased staining, chemical build-up and soil adherence. These types can also harm the finish system if left on leather.
    • Starch acts as an abrasive material on collars and cuffs, which results in sealer removal, thus causing color transfer or bleeding.
  What is the difference between goatskin and calfskin?
  • Besides the obvious difference that one is from a goat and one a calf, goatskin is considered extremely durable. A fine grain leather with a proven track record for long lasting wear. The military made a move to goatskin in WWII from horse hides due to its durability and availability. Calfskin is particularly valued for its suppleness. Used in many high quality apparel applications it provides an excellent balance between softness and durability.
  How durable is the image?
  • The imaged leather has passed all international requirements for footwear, upholstery and automotive seating. The imaged area is subservient to the leather. It moves with the leather without creasing, crystallizing, fogging or exhibiting any other undesirable effect.
  What is the guarantee on your product?
  • Please scroll down for the warranty section below for additional details. However at a high level the following warranty exists on leather jackets/ vests: Zipper/ liners – 2 years, Leather from cracking or peeling – 10 years, Fasteners, 5 years, all stitching for the life of the product. This warranty is limited to the original owner from the date of purchase. Customer will be responsible for incoming and outgoing freight charges.
  Can I send you my leather apparel and have you apply an image to it?
  • No, your image is applied to the leather before the garment is produced.
  Can I image more than just the back panel of the jacket?
  • Yes, however currently we are just imaging the back panel. If you have a special need to image the front panels or sleeves please contact Imaged Leather™ through OutWest at info@outwestmktg.com to discuss your special needs and pricing.
  Since Imaged Leather™ can replicate >90% of the Pantone™ color gamut, am I limited to a brown or black jacket?
  • No, you can basically produce any color leather jacket you want. However prices shown are for Brown or Black. Please contact Imaged Leather™ through OutWest at info@outwestmktg.com to discuss your special needs and pricing.

  Photo and Image

  Can I send you a photograph and have you "digitize" it for production?
  • Yes, for a fee the graphics department at Imaged Leather™ can digitize your photo. The graphic department can also assist you in any design needs. Please contact Imaged Leather™ through OutWest at info@outwestmktg.com for additional details.
  Can I put multiple images on the back side of my jacket or vest?
  • Yes, you will need to individually add each image to your garment and then individually edit and place the image.
  Can I crop my picture on the leather apparel?
  • Yes, if you are uploading your image you will have the ability to crop your image and proof it. You will not have the capability to crop Imaged Leather™ artist provided files.
  Can I submit any image?
  • Yes, you may submit any image you own or have obtained the right or permission to reproduce. By purchasing online, customers confirm they own the rights to the respective photograph(s), artwork(s), file(s) or have obtained and included the relevant permission(s) with your order. Imaged Leather™ will not be held responsible for any discrepancies which involve the license holder and the customer who submits the photograph, artwork, file. Lastly, customer withholds all artistic rights to Imaged Leather™ in producing your photograph, artwork or file onto leather apparel and its required rendering to fit your desired apparel selection.
  • Imaged Leather™ reserves the right to refuse to print "offensive" or "inappropriate" material.
    
    

     

     

     

     

    General Warranty Conditions

    The Imaged Leather Limited Warranty last for the number of years stated in the specific text for each product, starting from the date of purchase.

    What will Imaged Leather do to correct the problem?

    Imaged Leather will examine the product and decide, at its sole discretion, if it's covered under the limited warranty. Imaged Leather through its own service operations or authorized service partner, will then, at its choice, either repair the defective product or replace it with the same or comparable product. In these cases, Imaged Leather will pay the costs of the repairs or replacement of product. This does not apply in any cases where repair work has not been authorized by Imaged Leather (or its authorized service partner). Replaced products become the property of Imaged Leather. If the item is no longer sold by Imaged Leather, Imaged Leather will provide an appropriate replacement. Imaged Leather will decide, in its sole discretion, what constitutes an appropriate replacement.

    Conditions for the Limited Warranties

    The limited warranties are valid from the original date of purchase of the product. In order to rely on this limited warranty, the original receipt is required as proof of purchase from the original purchaser.

    The limited warranties do not apply to products that have been stored incorrectly, used inappropriately, abused, misused, altered or cleaned with wrong cleaning methods or wrong cleaning products. The limited warranties do not apply to normal wear and tear, cuts or scratches, or damage caused by impact or accidents. The limited warranty applies to the original purchaser. Coverage terminates if the original purchaser sells or otherwise transfers the Imaged Leather product.

    This warranty excludes damage resulting from abuse, accident, modifications or other causes that are not defects in materials and workmanship.

    TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW IMAGED LEATHER IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR SERVICE OF THE PRODUCT. THE WARRANTY AND REMEDIES DESCRIBED ABOVE ARE EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, REMEDIES, AND CONDITIONS, WHETHER ORAL, WRITTEN, EXPRESS, STATUTORY OR IMPLIED. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW IMAGED LEATHER DISCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IF IMPLIED WARRANTIES CANNOT BE DISCLAIMED, THEN SUCH WARRANTIES ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE DURATION OF THIS WARRANTY. Any recovery is limited to the original purchase price

    Care Instructions:

    To be able to claim the limited warranty you need to follow the specific care instructions for every product. You will find all care instructions with or on the product.

    General legal rights:

    Some States and Provinces do not allow the limitation or exclusion of incidental or consequential damage, so this limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights that vary from country to country, province to province or state to state.

    Save you sales receipt as proof of purchase! Proof of purchase is required by the original purchaser for the limited warranties to be valid.
