![]() Meet Fine Art Photographer
Robert Mance After living in the Santa Clarita Valley for almost twenty years, Robert Mance decided to pursue his interest in photography by attending classes at the local community college, College of the Canyons in Valencia, California. It was during these classes that Robert's passion for photography grew even more with each breathtaking photo he captured. It was clear that Robert had the eye of an impressive landscape/nature photographer. After remembering an inspirational quote, "If you want to become a professional, surround yourself with professionals", Robert swiftly became a member of the Santa Clarita Valley Photographers Association. This decision proved wise as Robert quickly became friends and taking tips from photographers with photos that blew him away. Both Robert's confidence and skill grew exponentially after joining the SCVPA, which showed Robert more of the subtle beauty in the world and turned him onto many photo competitions that he would soon enter. Robert entered his first photo competition in the year 2005 with high hopes and came victorious with a first place ribbon in the category of nature; proving to the SCVPA and himself that Robert was now one of the professionals. Each year Robert entered the Annual SCVPA photo competition with the utmost respect for every artist around him and never expected any award, but received ribbons in every competition entered. In 2008, Robert won first place and judges choice in the category of architecture for a single photo, and in 2009, first place and best in show for another photo in the category of landscape. In 2010, he received first place in the category of photojournalism and third place in the category of landscape. In 2008, in the midst of all of Robert's photography success, Lit by Nature Photography was born. Robert's business is now capable of producing any photograph on beautiful ceramic tile, coasters, canvas, and on other fine art photographic paper. Robert specializes in customizing his own mattes and frames, and does all his craft work right at home with a delicate hand. Robert is also currently enrolled in the New York Institute of Photography and plans to complete all courses available to him. Robert has taken his once small hobby and incorporated it into every aspect of his life. His favorite time of day is waking up before the crack of dawn to hike to some forgotten waterfront or edge of nowhere, to greet the morning sun and the beauty that exists around him. He greets these forgotten sights with a click of his shutter; to bring home to eyes who haven't seen the beauty that exists in the world. Robert wishes not only to take the breathe away of each person who views his photos, but also to inspire them to go out and see what only his eyes have seen. A Note from OutWest's Purveyors: Robert is not only a talented photographer, he is also a terrific printer.
