Artist Sandy FisherDecember Featured Artist Through January 3, 2012 Notes from the Artist:
When asked about what motivates me to either photograph or paint something, my answer revolves around the desire to share the awakening in my soul which is fueled by the infinite beauty and mystery of nature or the scene before my eyes. I fully believe at the heart of creating memorable works of art is the ability to slow down to really "see" beyond the norm. Through my many travels, I am provided with a bounty of unique environments and compositions. I try endlessly to notice the fascinating scenes and overlooked details that exist on our planet; sometimes in my very own backyard. It is my desire and objective that with a fresh perspective, and the use of dramatic natural lighting, my images will draw the viewer in to take a deeper and more intimate look. I also hope that viewers will become refreshed, renewed and as filled with a sense of wonderment as I am by the splendor and majesty of nature. As a child I was always surrounded by intriguing colorful layouts, eye catching compositions, and the smell of paint. My father, a teacher of sign graphics for over 25 years, inspired my creativity and imagination at a very young age. My pastimes then involved many forms of art including drawing, painting, scratchboard, wood burning, macrame, needlework, stained glass, and photography. I developed a natural eye for composition, which I apply to my photography and to my current passion of painting with watercolors.Although primarily a self taught photographer and artist, I have taken courses in fine art and 2-D design at College of Canyons along with studying under the tutelage of local artists, including watercolor artist Pong Apinyavat. In 2005 I was awarded an honorable mention for my oil painting titled "Mediterranean Memories." In 2007, I was awarded a gold medal in photography at the Santa Clarita Artists' Association (SCAA) Annual Art Classic, which was preceded by a silver medal in 2006. Additionally, I am a passionate advocate for furthering visual art in Santa Clarita and served as President of the SCAA for two years. Presently, I serve on the Arts Commission for the City of Santa Clarita.Photo from First Thursday Art Walk December 2, 2010 Old Town Newhall ![]() Purveyor Bobbi Jean Bell Featured Artist Sandy Fisher Featured Artist Laila Asgari Purveyor Jim Bell Featured Artist Nadiya Littlewarrior (Left to Right) Sandy Fisher's Art Wall Nadiya Littlewarrior's Gourd Art Shop Sandy Fisher:
