Rick, an Albuquerque, New Mexico designer, grew up in the flatlands of Oklahoma. He has been interested in Native American lore ever since he was a toddler. After befriending one of the oldest traders in the business, Rick was formally introduced to the Native American World; through his friend, Rick became familiar with many artists. Over 30 years have passed since he started his own business dealing in American Indian art and artifacts.

 Rick, a self-taught expert on native pottery, has also earned his doctorate in late 19th and early 20th century Navajo textiles. Over the years Rick has been involved in several pre-historic sites in New Mexico and Arizona.

For many years Rick considered the idea of incorporating the beautiful remains of authentic, ancient pottery into jewelry. After finding an artisan who mastered the difficult art of cutting and buffing the pottery shards, Rick began the hunt for skilled silversmiths to actually fabricate the jewelry. The right balance of materials and workmanship was painstakingly realized after several failed attempts. The culmination of these many efforts led to the birth of the Anasazi Ancients Collection.
