Meet Lorin Sorensen

From our Purveyors:
It is with sadness that we write these words tonight. We have just learned that Lorin passed away yesterday, Thursday, June 4, 2009. We are so fortunate to have met him, along with his wife Edy, and their canine companion Sadie. Lorin's enthusiasm for life was contagious and he was full of wonderful, engaging ideas...eager to share them, eager to tell a great story, excited to hear from us.

Lorin, God Speed. We will travel again, together 'pard, down Western trails. Scout them out for us for we know what a great guide you are. We look forward to hearing your infectious laugh and seeing that lively sparkle in your eye. Thank you for the legacy of your writings. We cherish the time we had together.

Lorin Sorensen was born and raised on a ranch near Rigby, Idaho, which is in Shoshone and Snake River country over by the Grand Tetons and dates back in his family to the 1890s.

Educated in the field of ranching, Lorin became a nationally-known historian and author. Old-Time Rodeo is his fifteenth book. Others include the books for Ford Motor Company’s 75th Anniversary, and Sears Roebuck’s 100th Anniversary.

He saw his first rodeo at the War Bonnet Roundup in Idaho Falls as a youngster, an experience among others that would inspire him to one day write this book.

As a historian he has appeared on the A&E Biography Channel and Public Television’s History Detectives.
